Henry Hudson Regional School offers a comprehensive music program that involves a band elective for grades 7-12 and Advanced Placement Music Theory for gifted musicians in the high school who can sight read and compose music.  HHRS also offers after school programs for the following: Pep band; Jazz band; Marching band; Concert Band; Pit Orchestra;and A capella Choir. All of these musical opportunities are opened to talented 7-12th graders.


The marching band has paraded down Main Street USA at Walt Disney World and completed annually since 2012 in music festivals up and down the east coast of US.  Many of these competitions have resulted in First Place showings as well as being recognized for the coveted “Esprit de Corps” Award. The band comprises almost 30% of the school.  


The Theater program at Henry Hudson Regional School offers Theater Management I, II, III, and IV along with a semester elective for 7th/8th graders in theater.  Also being offered is Acting I and public speaking. Students can audition for the middle school play/musical in the fall and this show is often directed by a student from the Theater Management class.  Students in the high school audition for the Spring musical anticipating their nominations for the production from the Count Basie Awards. HHRS has received three Basie awards in the five years in the competition: Best Student/Adult Orchestra; Best Actress in a Musical and a special award for Showmanship in the face of extreme hardship-”the show must go on” award.  With the addition of new technology and professional costuming, the productions are well done and enjoyable to all.
